Travels to Turkey
Wow I don’t even know where to begin to describe our trip to Istanbul… It was very interesting, I’ve never been in an environment so different from my own. Europe is pretty similar in many ways to Canada, so I had a great time discovering something completely new. The food for one was great! so flavorful and the baklava..oh the yummy combination of honey nuts and pastry…amazing! We did the usual touristy things, walked around and tried to take it all in. The mosques were quite impressive, the amount of detail is unbelievably gorgeous. The Grand Bazaar was overwhelming to say the least, I’ve never had so many strangers talk to me at once and push product in my face, you have to love to bargain and well.. that’s not really my thing. But it was a great space, not what I was expecting, I thought it was going to be more open air, but it was more like a mall with tiny stalls. Oh! and the cats!! They were everywhere, it was crazy, every time I turned around there was a set of little eyes staring right back at me! Next we spent a day on the Princes’ Islands, really nice and relaxing and definitely needed. The island we were on, Heybeliyada had no cars, the only way to travel was by foot, bike or horse carriage. So that’s what we did we hopped on a horse carriage with no idea where the driver was taking us! We eventually landed on the other side of the island and spent the afternoon by the Marmara sea. The only thing we didn’t get a chance to do was a Bosphorus tour, I would have loved to see both europe and asia in one glance, oh well maybe next time. It was a fantastic few days, I took so many photos it was hard to choose a few, but here you go!
